After the late passing of Carrie Fisher, many Star Wars fans speculated that if LucasFilms will resurrect Carrie Fisher digitally in the future Star Wars movies. But today LucasFilms confirms that they will not CGI Carrie Fisher in episode 9 of Star Wars. This is What they had to say:
“We don’t normally respond to fan or press speculation, but there is a rumor circulating that we would like to address. We want to assure our fans that Lucasfilm has no plans to digitally recreate Carrie Fisher’s performance as Princess or General Leia Organa.Carrie Fisher was, is, and always will be a part of the Lucasfilm family. She was our princess, our general, and more importantly, our friend. We are still hurting from her loss. We cherish her memory and legacy as Princess Leia, and will always strive to honor everything she gave to Star Wars.”
As myself and many other Star Wars fans, we are glad they will not Digitally Resurrect Carrie. It would be a disservice to the character she has brought to our lives and to us it would be better if we would let Carrie’s legacy live on. She gave everything to the Star Wars universe and the galaxy will never be the same without our General.
RIP Carrie Fisher 1956-2016.. You will always be our badass General and we will miss you dearly
