Inhumans casting call reveals (small) details about the characters

The Hashtag Show has released casting calls for the cast of the upcoming Inhumans show, expected to begin shooting in March.

The first is most definitely Black Bolt, the king of Attilan: [BRODERICK]Male. 30-40. Caucasian. Can say volumes with just a look. Strong, thoughtful and private, he’s unaccustomed to being questioned or feeling a need to answer to anyone, to an extent that can verge on arrogance. SERIES REGULAR, AEP.

Black Bolt aka Blackagar Boltagon is the head of the Royal Family. He posses an extremely powerful voice, to the point where a single whisper can cause mass destruction. Because of this, Blackagar is generally quiet. The actor for Black Bolt would, as the call says, need to be very good with facial acting, as the character wouldn’t have dialogue. When he does eventually unleash his voice, which will probably happen, it’ll be something to behold.

The second definitely sounds like Medusa, Black Bolt’s wife: [MARJORIE]Female. 30-40. Caucasian. An elegant and intelligent advisor to her husband, she struggles to find her place outside of their relationship, as others tend to view her as just a pretty face. Strong and resourceful, she’s not afraid to break the rules when the situation demands it. SERIES REGULAR, AEP.

Medusa aka Medusalith Amaquelin-Boltagon is the Queen of the Medusa and the wife of Black Bolt. She can control her extremely strong hair and use it as a weapon, shield, etc. Medusa’s hair will definitely be something that the VFX team could play around with and use in creative ways, and I’m excited with what they’ll come up with.

The next one is definitely going to turn out to be Karnak: [KEVIN]Male. 30-40. Open. Slight of build, his mind is his greatest asset. Always prepared with a plan, his outlook on life is the glass is always half-empty and often cracked and dirty as well. Though his outlook can be grim he has a droll, dry sense of humor. SERIES REGULAR, AEP.

Karnak aka Karnak Mander-Azur is the member of the Royal Family that hadn’t undergone Terrigenesis, due to what happened to his brother, Triton. Karnak was raised inside the Tower of Wisdom, where he became extremely smart, as well as gaining the skill to detect the weakness in anything. This is probably the character I’m most looking forward to, since I’m interested in the way that Marvel’ll visualize his skill. I could see it being something like a BBC Sherlock-type mental calculations, but we’ll see when the show comes out.

Now this one’s a bit more open, but based on how they’ve stuck with the Royal Family so far, and based on the pattern of the names (first letter is the same for all), I’d assume that Grady would be Gorgon: [GRADY]Male. 25-35. Open. Impetuous and brash, he has serious impulse control issues which frequently get him into trouble whether its women, booze or fighting. He loves life and lives in the moment for better or worse. SERIES REGULAR, AEP.

Gorgon aka Gorgon Petragon is Black Bolt’s cousin, and the muscle of the Royal Family. He can make Earthquakes by stomping his hooves, which are extremely powerful.

Christine is Crystal, [CHRISTINE]Female. 18-25 to play 18. Caucasian. Soulful but still learning the ways of the world, she has the arrogance of youth. Impetuous and independent she is also deeply devoted to her family. SERIES REGULAR, AEP.

Crystal aka Crystalia Amaquelin is the youngest of the Royal Family, and possesses the ability to control elements. Her power should be very visually interesting, and the fact that she’s Medusa’s sister should provide for some interesting character interactions.

We then get to Timothy, who is definitely Triton: [TIMOTHY]Male. 25-35. Open. SFXMU required. Supremely athletic. The ultimate picture of cool. He’s calm under pressure and willing to do anything to get the job done.

Something interesting I noticed is that the age they’re looking for to play Triton is younger than Karnak, his brother. This is important because in the comics his older brother is the reason Karnak didn’t go through with Terrigenesis, so either they change the reason Karnak didn’t undergo Terrigenesis, or they could just say that Triton went first for some reason, there’s also the possibility that Karnak did undergo Terrigenesis in the show, which may see some backlash from comic fans. Now to the actual character: Triton aka Triton Mandur-Azur is an Inhuman that can swim at extreme speeds, breathe underwater, and just generally has all of the power set that his type of character usually has. Triton should be really cool, especially with the effects/makeup they choose for him.

Finally we come to Marty, who sounds like Black Bolt’s younger brother and sometimes enemy; Maximus the Mad: [MARTY]Male. 30-40. Caucasian. Broderick’s younger brother; he is intelligent, charming and articulate. He comes across as a man of the people but secretly covets power. SERIES REGULAR, AEP.

Maximus definitely sounds like the character that people will end up liking, very much a Loki-ish character. Assuming he isn’t the villain, based on the call, he probably will begin building up to be one.

All-in-All, this certainly sounds like a show that both Marvel and Inhuman fans should be able to get behind, although people were worried about budget issues the show should look to satisfy fans. The show premieres Fall 2017 and will be shown in IMAX for 2 weeks in September.
